Did you know you can make Ice Cream with just one ingredient? Simply freeze some sliced bananas, and puree in a food processor. You will be amazed at how the texture and taste resembles real ice cream without the added fat and sugar!
When my four-year-old was a baby and first eating solid foods, one of the first things I made for him was Avocado Banana puree. I used this recipe, except I didn’t freeze the bananas. I personally find it delicious both ways, but like the cold creaminess of the ice cream texture even better.
Avocado Banana Ice Cream
adapted from The Sneaky Chef
- 1 banana, sliced and frozen
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- 1/2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt

Place all in food processor and puree until smooth. Serve immediately. This does not keep for long due to the avocados, so best to make when ready to enjoy! We usually make a double batch using a whole avocado since they don’t keep well once opened, and the three of us eat the whole batch.

While keeping it green on St. Patty’s day I decide to make this for my daughter and it was actually pretty good. I used greek yogurt because that’s what I had at home the banana was already in the freezer eating to be turned into Banana bread but because ice-cream instead. Thanks for the tip mine was more like a smoothy than typical ice-cream but still good!
