Today is my 33rd birthday. Hooray! I know some people hate getting older, but I am pretty excited. With each birthday, I’m a little more grateful that I made it another year. I woke up this morning and thanked God for allowing me to make it this far, and thanked Him for all He is doing in my life right now.
I am thankful for my family, my friends, being able to stay at home and raise my kids, the healing I’ve experienced this year, my passion that has been ignited to learn and share about nutrition and green living, God’s provision for our family this year, getting to live close to my parents, sisters, nieces and nephews, and the deeper relationship I have formed with God this year through reading the bible daily (with hopes to complete the whole thing this year-something I’ve never done before).
Even though it may not be your birthday, take a moment and consider all there is to be thankful for, and let those thoughts rule your mind, and let the negative thoughts fade away. If negativity arises, pull out those grateful thoughts again. If you would, comment below with something that you are grateful for today!
Hopefully the Paleo cake and homemade ice cream turn out so I can share the recipes with you tomorrow!!

Happy birthday Katie!! I love reading your blog & am so happy that you are religous about posting and don’t make me wait weeks or even months to read something new! I have shared it with friends of mine who are also interested in living more green. This yeas has blessed me with a beautiful, healthy, PERFECT baby boy. That is what I am most thankful for. As well as my amazing support system; my husband and my mother. Hope you have a wonderful birthday with all the men in your life
Thanks Rach! And thanks for sharing my blog with your friends. I’m glad you are enjoying the fruits of my labors! I can’t wait to meet your adorable little guy in August!
I am a little late with the post, but I’ve been studying all day! So, I have to say that I am thankful that I have made the decision to go back to school (AGAIN!) to pursue a career that will allow me to help others while giving me the opportunity to be financially stable and not worry about every penny. I have also made a commitment to live more frugally because this school thing ain’t cheap! LOL. (I’m not going to DMB this year, for example.) I am thankful that God has given me the strength to make this career change! I’m excited for this new chapter in my life! Also, I AM excited about my birthday this year, too. Check THIS OUT! The Old Hickory (site of many dinners of the birthday celebration variety (Babcia, Djaju, etc.) opened its doors on August 30, 1962. SO, they will be having their 50th anniversary on MY 40th BIRTHDAY! I am thinking that getting as many family members together for an “old time dinner” there would be a great way to usher in 40 while “feeling close” to those we have lost who used to visit the “hickory” all the time (i.e., Babcia, Djaju, my Aunt Maryanne and Uncle Tom, etc.). What do you think? Not very vegan, but….
Sounds fun! I’m certainly not vegan… Paleo is meat, veggies, and fruit, so sounds good to me!
Hope you enjoyed your day yesterday! Wish we could have been there! I know I’m a day late but I’m thankful for the amazing way that I’m taken care of. It amazes me how intricately planned our lives our to help us learn exactly what we need to learn (sometimes more then once). The more I realize that and let go of control the easier and more enjoyable life is. It’s freaking amazing when you think about it! Happy Birthday old lady!!
Amen, sista! And thanks for the old comment…
