I typically get my hair cut about once every year or two… I get it cut short, let it grow 8-10 inches, then donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, which makes wigs for cancer survivors.
Today was the big day this year when I chopped my locks, so I took a before and after picture. The ladies at Lunatic Fringe Salon took great care of me, and were excited to hear the hair was being donated.
The steps are pretty simple for donation. Simply put your hair in a ponytail at the nape of your neck, make sure it is at least 8 inches, and chop just above the ponytail holder. Make sure that hair is not more than 5% gray, not color treated or bleached, and freshly washed (but completely dry).
Mail hair in a sealed plastic zip-loc bag to:

What a lovely idea! And, the haircut is super cute!
Thanks!
I do the same thing! I’ve done it since my aunt lost her beautiful long hair during chemo treatments. The program I donate with requires 10 inches though, so it’s more like every couple of years or so for me…it’s getting about that time again actually
I’m so glad I found your post (through WLW link up)! I had never heard of Pantene Beautiful Lengths. My daughter and I donated last year to Locks of Love. Their requirement is a minimum of 10 inches, and my hair grows slow, so 10 inches seems like it takes forever to grow! I will look into this organization as well!
Thanks again!
