I had a head cold for about a week. Then one day I woke up with horrible sinus pain and yellow-green stringy nasal mucus. I couldn’t breath out of my nose, and if I bent over my head felt like it might burst.
I knew instantly I had a sinus infection. I did some looking in my homeopathic books and saw that Kali Bichromicum is a primary remedy for sinus infections, and after I read the indications it fit very well with my symptoms.
Some of the indications for Kali Bich include
- Bursting pain or pressure in the sinuses at the root of nose or cheeks
- Thick yellow-green stringy mucus
- Stuffed up, loss of smell, nasal voice
- Sinusitis with colds or coughs
- “one spot” meaning you can pin-point the pain
- better for pressure, worse in the morning, cold, and damp
I didn’t have every symptom, but most, so I started with a dose of Kali Bich 200c and noticed I could breath out of my nose almost instantly. After a half hour I was stuffed up again and took another dose. My nose cleared again, but it didn’t last long. This was the indication that I needed a higher potency.
I switched to Kali Bich 1M and felt much deeper relief. My nose stayed cleared and the mucus started subsiding. I took a dose each hour for three hours and the head pain began to clear.
It is now the following morning. I feel much better and can breathe, bend over without feeling like my head might explode, and have little mucus. The pain in my face has shifted to the other side so I know I need to continue and could probably even move up to Kali Bich 10M. For information on how to take a homeopathic remedy, visit here.
Keep in mind, there are MANY different remedies for sinus infections, but this was the one that most closely matched MY symptoms, therefore it was effective. If you have a sinus infection, your symptoms might be completely different from mine, and require a different remedy to heal you. Here is a list of common (but not all) remedies and their symptoms for sinusitis.
